My Trip.

Okay, I know I promised to post bout my trip. so here it goes.

Day One.

I got up at around 3.30am today, not like I had a lot of sleep la, I slept around 2-3 hours only...sucky much? So now I'm heading to the airport. Never has the roads of Singapore looked to deserted, for once the vehicle i was travelling in seemed to be the only vehicle on the road with the exception of a few passing vehicles ( so extra ). So yeh, I thought we'll be taking a budget airline and was fairly shocked when we were taken to T2 and yeah, we travelled by Silkair. For a short trip, silkair was pretty awesome. After 1.5hr, I arrived at Medan, Indonesia. the airport there is super small and there's nothing much to see. It's just a place with airplanes and counters. Okay then the next thing was a 4 hour bus ride to Lake Toba. Throughout the trip, we munched on kueh lapis and this weird looking but good tasting kueh ( Honey kueh ), cam whored and sleep. Like duh~ Anw our seat could be reclined until it was like a BED like really!! Cos there wasn't a lot of ppl on the bus u see. So first day was BORING. Plus we had a horrible lunch at a horrible restaurant infested with PESTS and they served terrible food. After which, we arrived at Hotel Nigaria. Slacked around, went swimmming and had dinner. Oh yeah, we managed to watch the sunset too. It was the best thing that we did/see that day. At night, played pool with Ceres, it is less than a dollar ( SGD ) per round so we played 3 rounds. Obviously I won :P:P

Day 2
Woke up at 6am indonesia time. I was like freaking tired. Took a short shower and headed down for breakfast which was...not very awesome. Only the bread was edible, thank god for the breadmakers of the world. Then we headed down to our first destination. We went to the harbour to take a boat to an island. Basically the island is known as the 杀人岛 bcos the people of that island ate human flesh and practised black magic. anyway upon arrival at the islan, we headed to the palace of the king. ( in the past ) It is not as grand AS the Forbidden city or what la. We were told that there is a seperate entrance and exit. So if u exit by the entrance your lifespan would be shortened. Even though I don't believe in such things but still...better be safe than sorry. The houses were made entirely out of wood, leaves and stones and stuff like that luh. First place we visited was the house of the king's mommy. apparently, most people back then practised black magic, therefore it isn't easy to kill someone and the blood of people that practise black magic is BLACK. So to protect is mother from black magic, he made the entrance really short and therefore people that needed to enter the mother's house had to bend down and as a result black magic loses it's power. The King also made 5 objects that work like the chinese 八卦. The mother also added 4 breasts outside her house to remind woman not to neglect their husbands after they've given birth. So 2 for husby 2 for kiddies. cool eh? We also visited a 400 year old big tree and well...the purpose of this tree is to lay the bones of the dead for 7days before throwing the bones into the lake ( lake toba ). Next the tourguide showed us this couch that the king would lay on to take an afternoon nap. Occasionally, he would hand out a leaf to any woman that catches his eye. This would mean that the woman had to go the the king's room that night. Of course they were in no position to refuse cos...he's the KING. poor girls. Lastly we headed to the execution grounds. We were showed this wooden thing with 12 sticks dangling below with weird things written, apparently that thing is a calender!! Next we were showed a scarf. Back then the people had 3 scarfs : Red, blue and black. Red was for weddings, Blue was for happy occasions like birthdays and stuff and Black was for funerals. Next we were showed this stick thingy. It seemed like an ordinary stick but no , only a person with high levels of balck magic has the authority to hold the stick and the person is none other than the king himself! This stick is really powerful and one eg would be...The king banged the floor 3 times with the stick and it rained. ( LOL. Sounds like Nanny Mcphee :P ) So there's this little knife made of bone. It is to check if the person who is going to get executed practices black magic. How to test? The bodyguard of the king ( also the executor ) will scratch the person's back 3 times with the knife, if the person doesn't feel pain + there's black blood, the executor will use the king's almighty stick and whack the person 3 times. Then cut 3 times again, this time the person will feel pain and the blood will b RED. After the test, the prisoner will be taken to another stone and the executor would slit his throat to let all the blood drip out and there would b a basin to collect the blood. After which, the executor will chop off the person's head with a swift single chop with this GIANT KNIFE. If the head doesnt roll within one chop, the executor's head will roll. Yeah it's that unfair back then. Then we went to another island to shop and I got a bottle with a big boat inside. SO CHIO! that was the only thing i bought though =( Then for lunch, we went to Istana Restaurant. Don't get me wrong, we didn't dine in the istana. The place is...infested with flies like wtf. but the food there was awesome momma! The fried chicken was finger lickin good and the skin is so crispy that I felt bad not eating it! Then we visited the POO POO waterwall. It's nothing spectecular and it's like a woman peeing...I don't have to elaborate to I ? Then we headed back to our new hotel called, Sinabung. It was more like the kinda holiday resort though, and of course there was an awesome view but the room was NOT AWESOME. There was this stale, nobody-stay-very-long kind of smell so unawesome la dey. That night I had a bad night.

Day 3
Woke up at 10am indonesia time. Got ready and headed down for breakfast. Nth special but the Nasi Goreng was one of the best I've ever tasted :D Then we took lots of pictures around the resort and headed down to this marketplace, which was a 10min ride from our resort. Then we all took turns to ride horses. The horses were is really good condition and did not stink. But...if you're walking around u gotta watch out for horse poop. They are like everywhere and they come is big big big piles. So I rode a brown color horse called Ontrey. The obedient 3 year old was really a lovely horse. There was this white horse that was really chio...白马王子 lor. HEHE! Then we went back to the hotel to get some rest and lunch before heading to the hot spring! Omg it felt really good there. There were different temperatures for the hot spring. It's like really cool and it helps to improve blood circulation cos after that I looked like a lobster from head to toe. :P Plus the hideous orh cheh ( blue black ) on my knee got a lot a lot better. But if you're afraid of warm/ hot water, too bad for u liao lor. Cos the after effect is shiok ttm. Then dinnered and showered. We asked the tourguide to bring us for SUPPER! It was awesome cos we got to eat street food. But I have to admit that it looked super dirty and 不起眼. Aiyah don't care la, la sap jia la sup dua ( eat dirty, dirty grow up :P ) So who cares? The food was GREAT and I felt like Andrew Zimern cos I was brave enough to eat the food :D It was indeed a wonderful experience.

Day 4

It is our last day and we took a 2 hour bus ride back to Medan. WOW. I couldnt adapt to the big change in temperature and environment. The air in Medan was as bad as the air in Bangkok. Not trying to exagerrate. So...we went to a shopping centre called Matahari. Nothing much. At about 7pm Indo time, we headed to the airport to go home :( GOSH! I kinda missed Indonesia and stuff, but good times come to an end.

With that, I'll end my post here and I hope u enjoyed :D

Signing off,
Eunice <3
